Light Sleepers
1. P Francisco Liriano, Min-
Injured in 2008...He has been great...He will go after 6th round...Steal him.
2. P Chris Young, SD-
Injured in 2008...
He has been good...He can be great...
3. SS Rafael Furcal, LAD-
Injured in 2008...
You gotta take some risks to win it all...
We like the risk/reward to this one.
4. 2B Rickie Weeks, Mil-
He decided not to stink in September '08.
We are guessing he takes that into this year.
Heavy Sleepers
1. OF Fernando Tatis, NYM-
Will start all year and produce.
2. P David Purcey, Tor-
In his second year, He will go from OK to Good. Try to grab him late.
3. OF Matt Laporta, Cle-
If he makes the team, this rookie will hit...and hit...and hit...
4. P John Maine, NYM-
Should fly under the radar enough to be picked late enough. Top setup man and closer in Metsville should give this consistent pitcher better season than most owners expect.
In A Coma
1. 3B Brandon Wood, LAA-
If he makes the team, his power makes him worth the last pick in the draft.
2. OF Carlos Gonzalez, Col-
Twenty-three year old posted poor numbers in Oakland. Aquired as one of the three players in Matt Holiday trade. Will get a legitimate shot to start in Colorado.
3. RP Jose Ceda, Fla-
Gregg traded to Cubs for AA closer Ceda, who is directly behind Linstrom as Marlins closer.
4. OF Nelson Cruz, Tex-
Twenty-Six Hr's at AAA and Texas and a starting job make him better than his hype (which is none since he plays in Texas).
5. 3B Dayan Viciendo, CWS (minors)-
Nineteen Year old Cuban defector with excellent 2009 numbers at Villa Clara. Might give Josh Fields a run for the job at spring training. Grab him late and stash him if your league rules have minor leaguers, or a good number of reserves.
6. P Jose Arredondo, Ana-
A very nice setup man to Fuentes in in Anaheim.
7. P Tommy Hanson, Atl (minors)-
Through a no-hitter in AAA. Atlanta refused to include him in a deal for Peavy this offseason. He's the real deal.
